INTEREST COLLAGE
Now that you've mastered the technique of cutting out the background of an image in Photoshop, display your talents and express yourself by creating a collage of images that represent your interests and hobbies. Create a new document in Photoshop (Control + N) that is 1000 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall. Search on Google or another image search website to find images that represent who you are. It is important to get images that have a solid color background! This way it will be easy to select the area with the magic wand tool so you can focus on cleaning up the edges and making it neat. You must choose and cut out at least 25 images that represent your interests. When you have finished your collage, save it as lastname + collage. Save a version as a JPEG with the same name (ex: turnercollage.JPEG). |
Beetle Tutorial / Car Advertisement
We will do the Beetle Tutorial together. You are then to create a car advertisement of your own design.
Your final product must be a well-developed, attractive advertisement complete with the car's manufacturer logo and unique catchy slogan. You are to change the color of the car. Two-tone the car to challenge your skills and abilities. There is a PDF tutorial located to the right to help you complete this project. Be sure to arrange your components in a way that utilizes the Elements and Principles of Design and accomplishes your intended purpose. As you work, save your project as a .psd when you are finished, save it again as a JPEG.

Audio - Billy Bob
Sometimes it is easy to forget that audio production is not only recording and editing music tracks, but also includes editing spoken word. This type of skill is used to create audio books, recording voice-overs for commercials and movies, and especially to produce radio broadcasts and advertisements.
In this project, you will edit a raw voice recording to match a script. Your client is Billy Bob's Auto Warehouse. You have his original recording (as you will see, Mr. Billy Bob is not so good at recording a commercial) and the written script of what the radio commercial should say exactly. As you learn how to cut and splice clips, arrange Billy Bob's recording in the correct order. When you have matched the script, add the background music. Remember to match the script exactly! |

Monster Truck
In this project, you will learn how to add special effects to the tracks of audio, as well as further incorporate sound effects and background music to help your radio advertisements sound appealing and persuasive.
Your client is Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC. They are hosting a monster truck rally and Sesame Street wrestling match (fun for adults and children!). You have been given a raw recording of the commercial, a voice-over from Elmo talking trash to Big Bird, and a sound effect or two. You have also been provided with the final script of the commercial. Your job is to cut and splice the original audio recording to match the script, then add in some excerpts from Elmo's voice-over. This time, every individual clip that you splice needs to be on its own track. You will use the software to add special effects like track panning, echo, reverb, and others. Finally, you will incorporate sound effects and background music to help persuade your audience to attend the monster truck rally and Sesame Street wrestling tournament. |

Animation - Pivot Stickman

EXTRA CREDIT - Desktop Animation
- Take a screen shot and make it the background in Pivot. (Note: first change your screen resolution to 800x600 before taking the screen shot. Here are instructions for doing this at school. Don't forget to change your screen resolution back to normal when running Pivot.) For your screen shot, arrange the icons on your desktop so that your character can jump (or fall) from icon to icon, then take your screenshot. You can use the clipping tool, or Fn + PrntScrn and paste into paint.
- Create an animation where the stickman falls from one of your top icons to the bottom.
- Have your stickman jumping safely from icon to icon to make it down to the bottom. Make this interesting to watch.
Video Techniques
A quick way to tell if a video production is of professional quality or done by an amateur is the use of proper shot composition and camera movement techniques. In this project, you will learn about each type of shot and get practice collecting each one.
In groups of 4, collect an example of each technique we learned in class. The shot compositions can be either a still image or a moving video. Every group member must be in a minimum of ONE picture. Place the example and add the corresponding title that describes each one. Finally, add a background song to make your video more interesting to the audience. |

4.02: Understand how Webpages are created & used
Essential Questions:
How are webpages created? How are webpages used? How do webpages work?
Assignment:
Hand code a website. You need to include the following:
- Home Page (link 1) - Must have a background and an email link to your school email. Include a picture of yourself.
