Sound Editing: The Piano Movers

Charades Using Audacity/Audition
The idea is to tell a 1-minute story using only sound effects. For the best results, you are not allowed to use any human voice, i.e. no recognizable words. You can use non-verbal sounds such as grunts, sighs, and so forth. The project is all about sound effects and how they can be used to convey a coherent story. You are not allowed to tell your classmates what about your story. This way when I play the project back in class, everyone can guess your story.

Create a music video of a song that you choose. You will download an .MP3 of any song that is school appropriate.
Then you will get pictures of the band, singers, fans, concerts, etc. that represent your song. You may also get pictures that match the lyrics of your song to tell a short story in your music video. Don't forget that your pictures must be school appropriate as well! You may also choose to get Animated GIFs that represent your song. Use the techniques you learned to create a unique, personalized music video for your song. Add in movement to your images and add a title at the beginning of your project. When you are finished with your project, export your project and turn in. |
First Project: Frame by Frame in PowerPoint
Desktop Animation
- Take a screen shot and make it the background in Pivot. (Note: first change your screen resolution to 800x600 before taking the screen shot. Here are instructions for doing this at school. Don't forget to change your screen resolution back to normal when running Pivot.) For your screen shot, arrange the icons on your desktop so that your character can jump (or fall) from icon to icon, then take your screenshot. You can use the clipping tool, or Fn + PrntScrn and paste into paint.
- Create an animation where the stickman falls from one of your top icons to the bottom.
- Have your stickman jumping safely from icon to icon to make it down to the bottom. Make this interesting to watch.
Adobe Animate: Bouncing Balls - Shape Tweens
|
The first project we will complete with Adobe Animate will help you learn the basics of creating objects on the stage and making them move from place to place. It utilizes computer generated formulas between keyframes, known as tweens, to define the path and speed of movement. This is path or vector animation.
This is a rather simple project that will only take one day to complete. You will create 10 different balls of various size and color. As you work, save your project as a .fla and name it lastname + first initial + balls.fla. When you are finished, export it as a .SWF file with the same name. |
Adobe Animate: Flying Text
|
Animating text is a great way to attract attention and direct the eye to an advertisement. Luckily, there are several tools and features of Adobe Animate that make this process rather easy and quick. In this project, you will be animating your name to make it fly around the stage and assemble itself into order.
Change the background color to a solid color other than white. This project will teach you how to break apart words and distribute to layers. As you work, save your project as a .fla and name it lastname + first initial + text.fla. When you are finished, export it as a .SWF file with the same name. |
Adobe Animate: Waving People
|
An anchor points is the point at which an object rotates. Understanding anchor points is an important part of animation. To grasp this concept, you are going to create 4 people of various sizes and animate their arms in a waving up/down motion. Each body part that is going to move must be on a separate layer.
Change the background color to a solid color other than white. This project will teach you how to convert shapes into a symbol and how to adjust anchor points. As you work, save your project as a .fla and name it lastname + first initial + people.fla. When you are finished, export it as a .SWF file with the same name. |
TV Ad Project - Classic Tween
|
Advertisements and pop up ads for products can be found on website throughout the web. You are going to use your knowledge of Photoshop and Animate to create an animated Television Advertisement for your favorite TV show. You will use multiple characters from the show, the network logo the show appears on, and the day and time the show airs.
The size for this project is 700 width x 200 height in pixels. Change the background color to a solid color other than white. This project will teach you how to fade images up/down using the alpha channel. Use the Internet to find high resolution images for your project. You will need to cut out all your images in Photoshop and add a white stroke before you enter Animate. Use a font for your text that fits your target audience. There is a PDF tutorial help you complete this project, and it is very important that you follow it step by step for this project. As you work, save your project as a .fla and name it lastname + first initial + tvad.fla. When you are finished, export it as a .SWF file with the same name (ex: pettywtvad.SWF). |
